Jay Z’s literary venture, Decoded, is set to hit book stores November 16th. The cover, (which also doubles as Hov’s profile pic on Twitter) is an image Andy Warhol’s 1984 “Rorschach” paintings. Inside, the book will feature illustrations and decode 36 of Jigga’s songs. Accompanying the hardcover edition, Random House plans to release Decoded as an eBook and iPhone/iPad application. Below is an excerpt from Jay on the project.

“When I first started working on this book, I told my editor that I wanted it to do three important things. The first was to make the case that hip-hop lyrics—not just my lyrics, but those of every great MC—are poetry if you look at them closely enough. The second was I wanted the book to tell a little bit of the story of my generation, to show the context for the choices we made at a violent and chaotic crossroads in recent history. And the third piece was that I wanted the book to show how hip-hop created a way to take a very specific and powerful experience and turn it into a story that everyone in the world could feel and relate to.”

*I usually don’t post rumors but i’m not 100% sure if this is true or false*

Via Jay Z and Coldplay’s Chris Martin are ready to Viva Las Vegas. The rap and rock duo, who have a history of performing together, are slated to headline an invite-only New Year’s Eve gig at the brand new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for a multi-million dollar paycheck.

The lavish show is being handled by party planner Colin Cowie (Oprah, Lil Wayne) with plans for each artist to play his own material before teaming up for a joint set broadcast on the hotel’s 65-foot marquee overlooking the Vegas Strip. The pals recently performed together at Jay Z’s “Home & Home” concert at Yankee Stadium.

Well that’s a sight for sore wallets. Jay Z was spotted breaking bread with one of the richest men in the world, Warren Buffet, over the weekend in Buffet’s home state of Omaha.

No one’s sure what they and Steve Forbes were chit chatting about, but guesses are swirling. The details, plus news on Mariah’s new Christmas album when you read on….

Mr. Carter rolled up to Omaha’s Hollywood Diner and, despite only Forbes’ cameras being allowed in, word got out the three were dining there. Folks came in camera phones a-blazin’. So this pic was leaked on VladTv.

Via *Jay Z co-hosted a Fashion Week party with GQ earlier this week after performing at two sold-out shows at Yankees Stadium.

Jay teamed with GQ to primarily show off his new and improved Rocawear line for the spring. While not usually considered in the class of high fashion covered by the men’s magazine, the media mogul has made a point to slowly shift the branding and look of Rocawear to appeal to a larger group of consumers.

“We were known for one thing,” he told a reporter for the Observer. “You know the whole thing of what people call urban fashion, which I think is a dirty word these days, but you know whatever.”

“People listen to all different sorts of music,” he continued. “People are inspired by all different walks of life and culture. It just is what it is. For people to try to put it in these segments, I don’t think that’s fair. Like people saying I couldn’t play Glastonbury all over again. It’s back to that again, you know what I’m saying?”
